KUCHING: It has been decided that the Sarawak government will pay for the cost of quarantine and the Covid-19 rT-PCR test fees for children aged three and above who were born outside Sarawak.

Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) chairman Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas said this was the latest decision made by the state.

“This applies to one or both of the child’s parents who must be Sarawakians,” he said in a press conference on the daily Covid-19 update today.

In the case that one of the spouses is Sarawakian, the cost of the room charges at the quarantine centre and rT-PCR tests will also be borne by the state government, he pointed out.

“In addition, the couples must also show their marriage certificate as proof,” he said.

On another new decision, Uggah said it had been decided that for social and official gatherings involving public gatherings, 50 percent capacity is allowed based on the size and space of the venue and physical distancing.

“For instance, if the capacity of a hall can accommodate 1,000 people at a time, we allow 50 percent of the capacity of the hall.

“And for open spaces, only 200 people are allowed,” said Uggah.
