SIBU: Sarawak Dayak National Union (SDNU) president Tan Sri William Mawan has urged SDNU members to support the government of the day.

“We have to stand by the government of the day and also the leadership of the Chief Minister (Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg),” he said, adding that SDNU is using its leverage to support the chief minister’s programmes and policies.

“I hope that one day by using our members, the government will definitely to be able to go hand in hand with us,” he said when he launched SDNU Sibu ‘Ngiling Bidai’ (Gawai closing) here, yesterday.

According to Mawan, who is also Pakan assemblyman, if SDNU members are united many things can be achieved for their benefit and development.

“Now we have one mission… one direction so if we are together and listen to the government of the day, Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) government being led by Abang Johari…I think it is right because if we don’t have any direction in our life, we cannot go anywhere,” he stressed.

On the Gawai celebration, Mawan said that it is one of the platforms for the Dayak community to gather together.

“Gawai is a celebration which is meant for the Dayak community to share with other communities to make the organisation better,” he said.

Also present was SDNU Sibu chairman Chambai Lindong.
