Sea Scout Basic Training in Miri on Nov 1

KUCHING: The Scouts As sociation of Malaysia through the National Sea Scout Secretariat will be hosting the national level Sea Scout Leader Basic Training 2018 from November 1 to 4 at Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Agama Miri, Sarawak.

He ld in col laborat ion with the Scouts Association of Malaysia ( Sarawak branch), Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency and Marine Department Malaysia, the event are expecting more than 80 sea scouts from all over the country including the Sea Scout Leaders and Sea Rover members. Miri is chosen based on its strategic location – close to Sabah, Labuan and Brunei.

This first course in East Malaysia is the continuation of the two courses organised earlier in Tanjung Pelepas, Johor in 2012 and Pulau Indah, Selangor last year.

According to a press statement issued yesterday, the event is a platform for the Sea Scout Leaders to further study theoretically and practically on the Malaysia Sea Scout Training Scheme for Young Sea Scouts and Sea Rover Scouts to be able to perform training in their respective seafarers’ groups.

Sea Scout is one of the Scout movement branches which existed since its establishment. In general, this group focuses on marine activities and survival in the water.
