Search and rescue operations continue for missing man

BINTULU: The Search and rescue operations (SAR) for a missing man in Kuala Serupai Tatau, resumed on Saturday at 7am.

According to Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency (MMEA) Bintulu Zone acting director commander Effendy Mohamed Fadil, the search area covered 150 nautical miles with a radius of almost 10 nautical miles from the shoreline.

He added the SAR was also carried out in the coastal areas between Sungai Serupai and Kuala Tatau.

‘Amongst MMEA’s assets involved in the SAR were KM JEPAK, Kilat 43 boat, apart from the one that belonged to the police, the Marine police force, Bomba, the Malaysian Civil Defence force and nearby villagers,’ he said.

He added, that they retained the Pengkalan Hadapan Carilamat (PHC) which was set up in front of the victim’s parents house in Kuala Tatau,’ he said in a statement.

Effendy added that the weather condition on Saturday at the location had improved compared to the day before, and this was expected to last until the evening.

The weather condition gave an upper hand to the SAR team including 40 people comprising villagers to facilitate the search.

The flagpole light, clues to in the search for Mohd Ainul Hadian.

On the latest updates, at around 12.15pm Saturday, the SAR team discovered a new clue at the search location which were flag pole lights, believed to belong to the missing man.

On Friday, a boat that belonged to a 23-year-old, Mohd Ainul Hadian was found abandoned near the beach around 2.20am.

The SAR was immediately initiated following a report lodged by the victim`s family.
