BETONG: The search is still ongoing for 70-year-old Linjong Edward, who was reported missing from an oil palm estate at Kampung Tabut Skrang, last Wednesday.
A spokesperson from the Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) said day five of the search and rescue (SAR) operation commenced in the morning with two groups.
“The first group conducted a search in an area with the help of a rescue dog, and the search radius is extended up to 500m. The second group conducted a search in the farm area which is 1.5km from the fire control post.
“A search within a 2km radius from upstream to downstream was also carried out,” the spokesperson said.
Earlier, the victim went to the oil palm estate at Memaloi, Mile 8 at 9am. The victim used a boat to go across and it was still tied on the other side.
The victim’s family realised that she did not return home that evening, which prompted a search and led to the family lodging a missing person’s report.
