Ongoing search for the missing boy.

KUCHING: A search and rescue (SAR) operation for an 11-year-old boy believed to have drowned after fishing with his peers entered day two yesterday.

According to the Sarawak Maritime Rescue Sub Centre, the operation began at 8am with the cooperation of personnel and officers of the Civil Defence Force (APM), Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba), Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) and People’s Volunteer Corps (Rela).

Assets which were used for the operation at Muara Sungai Kampung Buntal here included 13 boats and a canine team.

It was said that the APM Guard Boat 42 started its search from the mouth of the river to the ocean, with a search radius of 20 nautical square miles, while the Bomba fibre boat as well as the villagers’ boat made their search along the river.

At press time, the victim is yet to be found.
