Firemen from Simunjan and Batu Lintang stations set off to the location of the collision between a fibre boat and a sand cargo ship in Sungai Rama to locate one missing Isa today.

SEBUYAU: Thirty-five-year-old Isa Uja reported missing since Apr 20 at Sungai Rama, has still not been found four days into the search and rescue (SAR) operation.

Last Wednesday morning, he was reported missing after the boat he was in capsized when it collided with a sand cargo ship in Sungai Rama around 3am.

It was said that he and his friend were aboard their boat and heading back to Sebuyau prior to the collision.

The friend managed to save himself by holding onto the rope of the cargo ship while Isa disappeared into the waters.

A spokesman from the Sarawak Fire Department operations centre said the search today focused around the area where the collision happened in a 1km search radius.

In addition, a scuba diving unit from the Batu Lintang fire station in Kuching, also assisted in the search for Isa.

Also involved in the search are the police, Civil Defense Force (APM) and local villagers.
