SEB Group head re-elected to IHA board

KUCHING: Sarawak Energy Group chief executive officer Datuk Sharbini Suhaili has been re-elected to the Board of the International Hydropower Association (IHA) at the recent election held in London.

Sharbini, who will begin his two-year mandate in September, is one of the 18 hydropower sector leaders to guide IHA’s work and priorities for the period.

Commenting on his re-election, he said it signified the board’s confidence in Sarawak to harness the hydropower potential to secure reliable, renewable and affordable energy.

“It is a testament to the work and contribution of Sarawak Energy’s team to IHA as well as our relevance to the regional and world hydro energy.

“I look forward to seeing IHA build an even stronger and more visible presence in the region to support frequent interactions between hydropower developers, generators and policy makers to showcase the benefits of sustainable hydropower,” he said.

Sharbini was first elected to the board in 2017 after becoming the group CEO of the state-owned power utility and energy development company.
