KUCHING: Sarawak Energy (SEB) received Silver Awards at the 3rd Asean Public Relations (PR) Excellence Award ceremony held recently to celebrate achievements in public relations practice in the Southeast Asian region.
SEB was awarded ‘Best Covid-19 Related Response’ for the Group’s communication response in keeping its people, customers and stakeholders safe over the ongoing the Covid-19 pandemic as well as ‘Best PR Programme’ for the inaugural Sustainable and Renewable Energy Forum (SAREF) held in 2019.
PR practitioners within the Asean region competed in 10 categories – PR Programme, PR Practitioner, PR Agencies, PR Campaign, Crisis Management, Media Company Supporting PR and Communication Industry, Government PR, Use of Social Media, Use of Virtual Platform, and Covid-19 Related Response.
This year’s winners included Indonesia’s Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, the Philippines’ Department of Transportation, and other government-linked companies, multinationals and corporations from the region.
Datuk Seri Ibrahim Abdul Rahman, president of Institute PR Malaysia, also received a Lifetime Achievement Award at the event in recognition of his dedication and hard work in PR practice.
The session kicked off with an address from Prita Kemal Gani, founder and president of Asean Public Relations Network, on the importance of PR and the Asean PR Excellence Awards categories.
This was followed by a speech from Tran Duc Binh, deputy secretary-general of Asean for Community and Corporate Affairs, who spoke on aiming for excellence in PR and communication.
The virtual ceremony was organised by Asean PR Network together with World Comm Malaysia and Institute PR Malaysia, held in conjunction with Asean International Film Festival and Awards (AIFFA) 2021.
SEB was awarded two Diamond Awards for ‘Best PR Programme’ and ‘Best PR Campaign’ at the 2nd Asean PR Excellence Awards held in Kuching in 2019.
