Sebuyau driver loses life in road accident

KUCHING: A 31–year-old man from Sebuyau died yesterday morning after he collided with a four-wheel drive vehicle at Km8, Jalan Kota Samarahan-Asajaya.

The impact ripped off the front of the 4WD.

Saini Amit was driving from Asajaya towards Kota Samarhan when he lost control of his vehicle at 7.50am and crashed to the other side of the road. At that very instant a Toyota Hilux on the other side collided with him causing his car to get thrown to the side of the road. His car was badly damaged.

Firemen took Saini out of his wrecked car and rushed him to the Heart Specialist Hospital in Samarahan. He succumbed to his injuries at 9.30pm.

His remains were brought to the Sarawak General Hospital for autopsy.

The Hilux driver, a 62-year-old man from Sibu Jaya, suffered minor injuries.

Sarawak Head of Traffic Police, Supt Alexson Naga Chabu, confirmed that the case is being investigated under Section 41 (1) of the Road Traffic Act 1987.
