SEBUYAU: Residents in Sebuyau have welcomed the construction of nine new telecommunication towers in the area.
Minister of Utilities and Telecommunications Datuk Julaihi Narawi announced that his ministry was working on providing 4G internet to the rural folk statewide.
“It has become an important agenda for the Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) government to
provide internet access to those in the rural areas. We do not want any blind spots.
“We want all of the villages and longhouses in the rural areas statewide to have access to the
internet, not only in Sebuyau but also in other areas as well,” he said.
The New Sarawak Tribune had met with villagers in Sebuyau to share their thoughts on the matter.
SYARIFAH AINUL NABILAH WAN HAMID
As a student of the Kota Samarahan Institute of Teacher Education, I have internet problems in my area. This construction will be a great help for me as it has been difficult for me to attend my online classes now with poor internet connection.

The internet in my area is not good, especially during bad weather. So, it will take about a week for the internet network to return to normal. With the construction of the telecommunication tower, I hope the internet connection from village to village will be better so that I, as a trader, can easily communicate with my customers online.

The internet connection in my village is not good, especially when the electricity supply is cut off. It takes some time for it to get a stable connection. Therefore, with the construction of the internet tower later, hopefully the internet connection will be better here.

To me, the internet connection here is a bit unsatisfactory. Since we are in a rural area, I am very thankful that the telecommunication tower will be built later and I hope the internet speed and stability here improve.

For me, the internet situation in my area is quite good, but my friends have internet problems, especially for online learning. So, the installation of the tower by the ministry is very helpful to students like me.
