MIRI:  The cause of the landslide which damaged a section of Miri-Bintulu Road at KM22 in Bukit Song Lambir on Thursday afternoon is still under investigation.

Project Manager of Consortium KPE Sdn Bhd, Rodney Mora said the authorities and consultants were involved in the investigation process to identify the cause of the incident.

“There is the possibility that the incident was caused by underground waterway and not by activities of the Pan Borneo Highway pro-ject.

“There are no project activities in the range of one kilometre from the scene,” he said.

The incident occurred after heavy rain on Thursday afternoon.

Meanwhile, Miri Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) chief, Law Poh Kiong said a team of Bomba personnel was dispatched to the scene to monitor and keep the situation under control.

Meanwhile at the press time yesterday, the road was still closed to vehicles and road users were advised to use the coastal highway.
