PADAWAN: A security guard was arrested for allegedly breaking into a real estate agent’s house and stole items worth RM10,000 last Tuesday.

Padawan district police chief Supt Abang Zainal Abidin Abang Ahmad in a statement, said the 22-year-old suspect was arrested by a Criminal Investigation Division (CID) team around 7.30am in Matang area yesterday.

Investigation found that the suspect had seven prior offences for housebreaking, vehicle theft and drugs.

He said the suspect is currently placed in Siburan police lock-up for further investigation under Section 457 of the Penal Code.

On Tuesday, the police received a police report pertaining to the incident from the home owner around 6.30pm.

“During the break-in, the complainant and his wife were not at home as they were at work. The suspect broke into the house by prying the window which was barred.

“Among the items reported missing included various types of jewellery, passport and cash worth RM950, thereby with an estimated loss of about RM10,000,” he said.

Abang Zainal said the house was not equipped with closed circuit television camera (CCTV). However, the police managed to find two fingerprints at the scene in the complainant’s bedroom.
