KUCHING: Sarawak Economic Development Corporation (SEDC Sarawak) will intensify its Bumiputera Entrepreneur Enhancement Programme (Putera) to assist local entrepreneurs develop and expand their trade.

The programme will be implemented in collaboration with the Contractors and Supplier Development Unit under the State Financial Secretary’s Office.

SEDC Sarawak said under Putera selected entrepreneurs would be getting grants and assistance in the form of equipment or machines supplies amounting to RM5,000 inclusive of shipping costs of the equipment to their premises.

The programme focuses on small-scale entrepreneurs including contractors with a monthly income not exceeding RM3,000, it said in a media statement.

SEDC Sarawak said the programme aimed at encouraging young people to be involved in entrepreneurship.

“In addition to improving the productivity of Sarawak Bumiputera entrepreneurs, the programme can also improve their marketing strategies, especially in branding, which can unlock more business opportunities,” it added.

To date 151 entrepreneurs have benefited through the Putera programme in the first quarter of this year.
