KUCHING: Sarawak Economic Development Corporation (SEDC) has settled its 2020 business tithe amounting to RM2,374,200 – paid to Tabung Baitulmal Sarawak (TBS).

SEDC was represented by chairman Tan Sri Abdul Aziz Husain while TBS, by general manager Datuk Abang Mohd Shibli Abang Mohd Nailie, at a ceremony held via Zoom on Wednesday (May 5).

Abdul Aziz said the 2020 amount was more than the previous year due to SEDC’s encouraging turnover as well as dividends received from strategic investments.

He added that SEDC was also not spared from the effects of Covid-19, which had affected its business operations, including in the tourism and hospitality sector.

Meanwhile, Abang Shibli said the month of Ramadan was the best time for all parties to double their goodwill as well as take the opportunity to help the needy.

He expressed his appreciation to SEDC for the payment despite facing various challenges due to the pandemic.
