KUCHING: Sarawak Economic Development Corporation (SEDC) wholly-owned subsidiary, Hemisphere Corporation Sdn Bhd (Hemisphere), and Kemena Global Sdn Bhd (KGSB) recently inked a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to establish cooperation and exploration opportunities for business collaborations in the hotel industry.

Hemisphere was represented by SEDC chairman Tan Sri Datuk Amar Abdul Aziz Husain while general manager Abdul Hadi Datuk Abdul Kadir witnessed the event.

KGSB was represented by managing director Albert Hii Toh Ing with director Charlene Hii as witness.

The strategic partnership reflects both parties’ intentions to ensure the most viable means of coordinating and combining their resources and activities towards the collaboration.

“It is heartening to see both parties had agreed to proceed with the MoU as we move forward in 2021 despite facing challenges due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

“We look up to KGSB as one of our strategic partners because the company has been a prominent key player in Sarawak’s construction market segment.

“We are also delighted that the company currently owns a total of seven hotels — six in Sarawak and one in Sabah,” said Abdul Aziz.

He also mentioned that SEDC had remained optimistic in light of the challenges caused by the pandemic which can be overcome if corporate organisations continue to work closely with their strategic partners who share the common goals and objectives in moving forward even during difficult times.
