KUCHING: SeDidik will establish a centre of excellence called ‘SeDidik Centre of Excellence’, in 2021.

Minister of Welfare, Community Wellbeing, Women, Family and Childhood Development Datuk Seri Fatimah Abdullah revealed that the centre is to train children in the field they are interested in — by developing the talents and potential of children like what the state did through Sarawak Kids Got Talent.

“This centre will not be limited to SeDidik children only but can be utilised by other children,” she said in her speech at the handover ceremony of SeDidik Sdn Bhd from State Economic Development Corporation Sarawak (SEDC Sarawak) to Ministry of Welfare, Community Wellbeing, Women, Family and Childhood Development, here at Wisma Bapa Malaysia today.

Besides that, Fatimah also explained that the proposal from the approval from the State Cabinet Meeting Council for the ministry to take over SeDidik from SEDC Sarawak, a lab was held on Dec 5 to 8 in 2018 to discuss holistically and comprehensively the acquisition of SeDidik from SEDC Sarawak.

“It covers aspects of finance, law, infrastructure, human resources and administration — with 12 agencies involved so that all aspects are given due attention and consideration … also including the ministry, SEDC Sarawak and SeDidik Sdn Bhd were among the 12 agencies.

“The lab resolution is for the state government to take over SeDidik by ‘Lock, Stock and Barrel’ — through SFS Incorporation (SFS Inc) or its subsidiaries to enable SeDidik to operate as an independent body/company.

Towards aspirations for SeDidik, Fatimah highlighted that the state government will continue to focus on access, quality and equity.
