KUCHING: The Sarawak Electrical Industry Training Institute (SEITI), a subsidiary company of Pusat Pembangunan Kemahiran Sarawak (PPKS), is inviting applications from working adults for its Chargeman L1 programme.
Registration for the next cohort of new students/trainees will be held on April 30, 2018 at SEITI, located at Tabuan Laru Commercial Centre in Kuching. Established in 2011, the Sarawak Electrical Industry Training Institute has been accredited by the Electrical Inspectorate Unit (EIU), Ministry of Utilities, Sarawak as a Training and Examination Centre for the following Certificate(s) of Competency: Wireman Second Grade (Low Voltage Single Phase Installations), Wireman First Grade (Low Voltage Three Phase Installations and Single Phase Installations) and Chargeman L1 (Low Voltage Main Switchboard and Auxiliaries).
Commenting on SEITI’s upcoming intake, John Rizal Biki, PPKS Kuching’s Campus Director who is also the General Manager of SEITI, highlighted that the Chargeman L1 programme would be offered on a part-time basis to enable working adults to enhance their professional skills and competencies.
He also shared that applicants should not be less than 21 years old and have more than 3 years’ working experience in handling electrical equipment and be experienced in controlling live (electrical) equipment.
They should also have completed secondary school education (up to Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) level) and possess any one of the following electrical certificates: G1/G2/SKM2/SKM3 or equivalent qualification.
Rizal emphasised that during the programme, students would gain invaluable hands-on experience in Switchboard Operation, Instrument and Measurement, and Motor Control. He also commented that the programme prepares graduates/trainees for a wide range of career opportunities across the commercial and industrial sectors.
Indeed, with the Certificate of Competency in Chargeman L1, graduates can look forward to exciting careers across the length and breadth of industry.
