Breaking the chain of infection

KUCHING: Sarawakians are urged to isolate themselves to break the Covid-19 chain of infections.

Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives Minister Datuk Seri Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar said it is possible to stop the spread of the virus.

“That is why human contact must be limited, that is why the order by the federal government is to quarantine ourselves at home.

“I believe that the order is based on the opinion of scientists and health practitioners,” he said in a video message posted on Facebook yesterday.

The Santubong MP said the extension of the movement control order (MCO) until April 14 announced by Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin on Wednesday is expected.

He said while there is no known cure or medication for the virus just yet, the only way to combat it is through stopping its spread.

“I ask that all Sarawakians save themselves, their families and their communities in the villages, mosque, churches and temples.

“That is why mass gatherings are prohibited so the virus does not spread to all Sarawakians.

“We have to heed the order by the government, they have conducted a study on this and this is their way of combating the spread of the virus,” he said.
