KUCHING: The Northern Sarawak Journalists Association (NSJA) purchased 180 Covid-19 antigen rapid self-test kits for the distribution to its members — two kits per person.

NSJA president Andy Jong Wan Joon said the self-test kits are for its members to keep in case they needed to monitor their own health at home.

“This distribution is part of the association’s initiative to ensure the safety of its members while performing their duties.

“To date, NSJA has a total of 90 registered members, including 55 who are media practitioners from various agencies who are on the front line,” he said.

He stressed that the daily duties of media practitioners are risky, and that they are placed at the forefront to deliver authentic news and information to the community.

“Since the Covid-19 pandemic started hitting our country last year, NSJA has provided face masks and hand washes to NSJA members. This time, we will be distributing the self-test kits to them.

“I would like to urge all NSJA members to take precautionary measures while carrying out their duties, and at the same time, they should faithfully adhere to the standard operating procedures,” he added.
