MIRI: People here have proven to be more than selfless when it comes to donating blood to save lives.

Since the implementation of the Movement Control Order (MCO) on March 25 ,2020 a total of 11,494 have responded to blood donation campaigns organised by the Malaysian Red Crescent Society (MRCS) local chapter, leading to the collection of 9,588 pints for the hospital blood bank.

Mayor Adam Yii paid tribute to their generosity at the start of another campaign, this time organised by the Lions Club of Batu Niah, in conjunction with its 20th anniversary.

A total of 71 people came forward and 61 of them were found eligible to donate their blood.

“Blood donation is an essential service to maintain an adequate supply of blood in the blood bank,” said Yii in lauding the Lions Club for organising the blood drive.
