LUNDU:  Homestay business is fast becoming an essential part of Sematan which has grown rapidly to become an attractive rural spot for tourism.

One of the early birds of the sector here is the Hafizan Homestay Sematan, or Hafizan Homestay for short.

Hafizan Homestay’s main draw is its concept of being a family friendly accommodation while also giving the opportunity for visitors to experience and immerse themselves in the lives of the local community.

By no coincidence, Sematan has all it takes to wow visitors, and it’s this aspect of Sematan that Hafizan Homestay, which has been registered under the Homestay Community of Kampung Tanah Hitam, is exploiting.

Sematan, a fishing village situated in an area facing the South China Sea, boasts of such uniquely beautiful destinations as the Talang Talang Islands which are breeding spots for turtles, the beautiful Sematan Jetty, the waterfall in Kampung Sebat, nearby resorts, a gallery showcasing marine wildlife and the Gading National Park in Lundu. All this makes Sematan a viable retreat for both local and international tourists.

Sematan, a paradise for anglers, saw its popularity increased after the completion of a stretch of the Pan Borneo Highway as visitors would have to pass through the area to get to Telok Melano.

For those who stop to stay and take in the many breath-taking sights of Sematan,

Hafizan Homestay gives them the right amount of comfort in its lodging units – three bedrooms, two bathrooms, a kitchen fully equipped with cooking utensils and a washing machine.
