SIBU: Senator Robert Lau Hui Yew and his team have worked hard to ensure that the vaccination process runs smoothly at two different centres on Saturday (July 17).

He said his team has helped the staff from the Ministry of Health to manage the vaccination process for residents in Selalo and Sungai Bidut.

Lau also said the vaccination programme in Selalo involved foreign workers from nearby factories.

“I have operated two mobile vaccination centres (PPVs) — one in Selalo for the first dose and another at Ching Ang Church (near SJK Kwong Hua) in the Bidut River area for the second dose.

“These two places are in opposite directions and are separated by the Rajang River,” he said on Sunday (July 18).

Lau, who is also Sarawak United People’s Party Bawang Assan Branch chairman, said the vaccination process is running smoothly in both PPVs.

“I am grateful to see more locals in Selalo, which includes the Tanjung Kunyit and Paradom areas, who are willing to receive the vaccine.

“More than half of the 300 eligible vaccine recipients are foreign workers in sawmills and other factories. Many of them may not want to receive the Covid-19 vaccine if they were told to do so through the MySejahtera app,” he said.

For the next mobile vaccination programme, he said it would be held in Rantau Panjang for longhouse residents there.
