KUCHING: Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg received a courtesy call from a delegation of Senate members led by Senator Datuk Ahmad Ibrahim at Wisma Bapa Malaysia here on Thursday.

After the courtesy call, Ahmad who met with reporters, said that the Premier emphasised the need to constantly safeguard Sarawak’s rights at the Senate level.

“The Sarawak Premier also reminded us to always safeguard Sarawak’s rights, as previously articulated by the late Pehin Sri Tan Sri Adenan Satem. Never forget that.

“Because we are appointed by the Sarawak government, we must prioritise Sarawak. And if we need assistance from the legal team, we will appeal to the Sarawak Premier’s Department (JPS), and they will assist. Due to certain conditional laws, we are not proficient in translation and interpretation,” he said.

Commenting further, he said that the visit also aimed to request allocations in their respective Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) branches, which will be implemented shortly.
