KUCHING: Senate President Datuk Mutang Tagal passing is undoubtedly a great loss to the people of Sarawak and the country said Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.

“The late Senator was the first Dayak person to be appointed as Senate President.

“His contributions and sacrifices will surely be remembered by the people forever,” said the Prime Minister in his Facebook post today.

Anwar also extended his condolences to Mutang’s family over the sad news.

“May the family of the late Senator find strength in facing this ordeal,” he said.

Mutang, 70, passed away yesterday at 11:46 am at the National Heart Institute, Kuala Lumpur.

He had been undergoing treatment at the Heart Institute after falling ill during a working trip to Azerbaijan on May 6.
