KUCHING: A senior citizen from Kampung Jaya Bakti here received a new wheelchair – to replace his old unusable one – from Pantai Damai assemblyman Datuk Dr Abdul Rahman Junaidi today.

Borhan Jol, 70, said his health deteriorated after suffering from intestinal obstruction and heart problems and he had difficulty moving around.

“I underwent bowel obstruction surgery in 2019 and at the same time, I was diagnosed with heart problems. Now, I suffer from knee pain and have moving difficulties,” he said, thanking Dr Abdul Rahman for his care and concern.

“My old wheelchair can no longer be used. This new one will make it easier for me to move around, especially when I go for (medical) check-ups,” said Borhan.

Meanwhile, Dr Abdul Rahman, who is also Assistant Minister in the Chief Minister’s Department (Islamic Affairs and DBKU), said welfare contribution has always been a commonplace to help the needy.

“We have been implementing programmes like this for a long time to help the underprivileged community in our area,” he said.
