SERIAN: A senior citizen was killed when she was hit by a car while crossing the road along KM96, Jalan Kuching-Sri Aman.

Sarawak traffic police chief Supt Bingkok John confirmed that the accident happened around 7.40pm, Thursday (April 28) was heading to Sri Aman from Serian.

“Investigations found that a multi-purpose vehicle (MPV) driven by a 64-year-old man with three passengers, heading to Sri Aman from Serian, collided with the victim.

“As a result, the victim, identified as Lian Alam, 61, from Kampung Ensebang Kuari, was thrown into the next lane.

“The victim, who suffered head injuries, broken arms and legs, was confirmed dead at the scene by paramedics,” he said, adding that her body was taken to Serian Hospital for post-mortem.

Supt Bingkok disclosed that the scene of the accident was dark and there were no street lights. The driver and passengers did not suffer any injuries.

The case is being investigated under Section 41 of the Road Transport Act 1987.
