Senior citizens play their role

SERIAN: Senior citizens did not pass up the opportunity to exercise their right to vote as Malaysians in the 15th general election (GE15) today (Nov 19).

Jo-og Pani, 78, and Lipor Lagit, 90, were happy that they had fulfilled their obligation as a voter, and hoped that Malaysians in general will vote today to choose a government that will benefit the them.

The two from Kampung Pichin were among the first to arrive – as early as 7.30 am –at one of the Serian polling stations in SK St. Dominic Pichin.

Another voter, Juana Loteh, 63, came to the polling station as early as 7 am, accompanied by her son Andy Yan Ah En, 40, who is a person with disabilities (OKU).

Juana said her son has been a registered voter since he turned 22 and has never failed to vote in any election.

As early as 7 am, the crowd – mostly senior citizens. – started to arrive at the polling station.

After a day of heavy downpour, the weather was bright at 28 degrees early this morning. The voters expressed their delight for the favourable weather, which made it easy for them to cast their ballots.
