MIRI: An unoccupied house and a wooden house caught fire at two different locations here on Monday (Aug 2).
The first incident involved a double-storey shophouse building at Eastwood Industrial Estate.
A spokesperson from the State Fire and Rescue Department operations centre said 10 firemen from Lopeng fire station were deployed to the scene after receiving an emergency call at 8.27pm.
They succeeded in extinguishing the flames within an hour.
Meanwhile, an elderly woman in her 70s was left homeless after her wooden house was razed by fire in Kampung Lubuk Nibong Marudi.
The victim was living alone in the house and escaped unharmed.
Seven firemen from Marudi fire station rushed to the scene after receiving a distress call on the incident at 8.55pm.
The firemen managed to put out the blaze at 11.30pm.
