Septuagenarian killed in motorbikes’ collision

MUKAH: Another motorcyclist’s reckless action of riding against the traffic flow, had resulted in the death of a 76-year-old man along KM73, Jalan Sibu-Bintulu today.

Mukah police chief DSP Muhamad Rizal Alias in a statement, said the victim identified as Ngelambai Gani, was pronounced dead at the scene in the 9 am accident.

Investigation found that the accident happened when the victim, who was riding his motorcycle towards Selangau, had collided with another motorcycle that was going against the traffic flow.

“As a result, the victim died from severe head injuries, broken arms and a fractured left leg.

“His body was taken to the hospital for a post-mortem,” he said.

Meanwhile, the other motorcyclist who sustained severe head injuries and a fractured left leg, was immediately taken to Sibu Hospital for further treatment.

Rizal added that the case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
