KOTA SAMARAHAN: Serba DigitalX continues to identify more local talents, especially among the youths.

Serba Dinamik Digital Sdn Bhd general manager Abdul Qaiyum Alidin said the Samarahan Digital Festival was designed to highlight talents using the online platform.

The programme, which is powered by Sarawak Digital Economy Corporation (SDEC) in collaboration with Serba DigitalX and Kota Samarahan Municipal Council (MPKS), also aims to strengthen participants’ knowledge and increase their motivation in keeping pace with the latest digital development.

“We have offered various programmes to the community such as Samarahan Jr Color Contest, Foodie TikTok Challenge, Samarahan Karok Competition, Fifa De Samarahan, OoHaaa Samarahan Bonanza, Women Entrepreneur, as well as the Challenges in Facing Covid-19 Endemic webinars.

“The focus of the programme is to discover talent and skills among the local community, to implement digitalisation in business and other fields as well as to make digitalisation a norm in Kota Samarahan,” he said during the closing ceremony of the Sarawak Digital Festival in conjunction with MPKS’ fifth anniversary here on Friday (Nov 26).

He pointed out that there were a lot of talents who started out through digital platforms such as YouTube who have grown successful and are now internationally recognised in the real world.

“Thus, we need to put in a lot of effort in highlighting these local talents. I hope that after this programme, participants can explore their own talent and skills in various fields and continue to use the talents and skills to help Kota Samarahan grow.”

Separately, SDEC Innovation and Entrepreneurship head Hazwan Razak disclosed that SDEC was collaborating with Sarawak Economic Planning Unit (EPU) and ecommerce platform Shopee through ‘Sarawak Digital Mall’ with the objective of providing sales boost to Sarawakian sellers.

“This partnership will benefit tens of thousands of new and existing merchants on the platform by offering incentives such as discounts and free shipping vouchers worth RM1mil to the participating merchants.

“On top of that, this is in line with the ecosystem that we created that provides services and opportunities for start-up companies, including space to collaborate, development programmes, funds and investments, activities, partners in the field of technology, research, and development areas as well as access to markets internationally.”
