KUCHING: Serba Dinamik Holdings Berhad is expanding its global corporate social responsibility (CSR) programme with the ‘Serba Care Team’ campaign in South Africa.

In a statement last Thursday (Oct 1), the company said it would provide over 20,000 pieces of personal protective equipment, other medical supplies, face masks and infrared thermometers to Guinea and Senegal during the first phase of the campaign.

“The initiative, which costs almost RM1mil, demonstrates the strong connection between Serba Dinamik and West Africa.”

It added that the company had embarked on a strategic collaboration with Jeddah-based Islamic Development Bank to produce medical supplies.

Its managing director and chief executive director Datuk Dr Mohd Abdul Karim Abdullah said by focusing on sustainable safety and health, education and development and green environment, the Serba Care Team campaign globally would drive its long-term commitment in healthcare.

“As a corporate citizen also, we must do our part by supporting front-liners fighting the Covid-19 pandemic.”

On education, the company said more programs would be conducted through collaboration with Mara Education Foundation and school adoption programme in Sarawak’s rural areas.

“The Serba Dinamik Care team has already mobilised activities for the communities where we operate, including Bintulu, Miri, Labuan and Kuala Lumpur as well as in Indonesia.

“The programme has provided immediate relief to families and individuals in need, particularly the B40 communities.”

The company had also selected 13 students–the children of its employees to further their studies.

“For the 2019 batch, three students had been selected. Part of our contributions also goes to supporting institutions such as orphanages and non-profit government organisations.”

In March, the company donated personal protective equipment and other medical supplies, costing RM1.5mil, to University of Malaya Medical Centre, Hospital Canselor Tuanku Muhriz, Hospital Serdang, Hospital Selayang and Hospital Sungai Buloh.
