BAU: Serembu assemblyman Miro Simuh wants to develop Kampung Pengkalan Tebang as an eco-tourism destination.

He said the villages inhabited by the Chinese and Bidayuh communities over 100 years ago have the potential to be a unique tourist attraction.

“Among the main attractions is Sungai Pedea or Ulu Sungai Sarawak Kanan which has been used as the main route for the villagers. And there is a trail route that can be used for jungle tracking,” he said.

He said this after attending the Foo De temple anniversary dinner on Saturday night.

Miro, who is also the PBB deputy youth chief, said in addition, the boat pier that is over a hundred years old would also attract visitors.

He said by developing the site into an eco-tourism destination, hopefully it will help improve the incomes of the locals.

Earlier, Miro gave RM10,000 allocation to Foo De Temple to help it upgrade facilities and run activities.
