Serian, Bintulu and Tanjung Manis turn yellow

Four new cases have been reported in Sarawak and Kuching, Serian, Bintulu and Tanjung Manis are yellow zones.

KUCHING: Sarawak recorded four new positive Covid-19 cases today, bringing the total number of cases to 549 since the first case was reported on March 13.

Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC), in a statement, said one case each was reported in Kuching, Serian, Bintulu and Tanjung Manis.

Serian, Bintulu and Tanjung Manis have been categorised as yellow zones today.

Kuching and Sibu continue to remain yellow while the rest of the 35 areas are green.  

Three new recoveries have been discharged from hospitals — two cases from Sarawak General Hospital (SGH) and one from Sibu Hospital.

This brings the total number of recovery cases to 473 or 86.16 per cent of the total cases.

The committee also said there were 132 more person under investigation (PUI) cases, with 117 still awaiting laboratory results.

To date, 59 cases are still undergoing treatment in hospitals, with no case at the intensive care unit (ICU) and no patients receiving intubation support.

Of the cases under treatment, 44 are in SGH, eight in Sibu Hospital, five in Bintulu Hospital and two in Miri Hospital.

Out of the 545 positive cases, 19 are reported as ‘re-tested positive’ cases.

There are 59 person under surveillance (PUS) cases today, bringing the total number of PUS at 38 hotels in the state to 1,696. 

Meanwhile, 10,648 PUS have completed their quarantine and were allowed to go home.

The Covid-19 death toll in the state remains at 17.
