KUCHING: For the first time in two years, the Gawai Bazaar is finally back in Serian, bringing early festive mood to the bustling town.

The Gawai Bazaar 2022 from May 21 to 29 at the Serian Community Park features booths selling clothes, handicrafts, food and beverages.

The event, organised by the Serian District Council (MDS) in collaboration with the Dayak Bidayuh National Association (DBNA), from 10am to 10pm includes ‘Battle of the Bands’, karaoke sessions, live performances, traditional costume, and dance competitions.

The first-ever Serian Gawai Bazaar was held back in 2019 at the Serian District Council (MDS). However, it could not be held in 2020 and 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

For this year’s event, the Serian Community Park was chosen due to its bigger space and to accommodate more events.

The organising committee invites people from outside Serian to support the bazaar and the local community.
