SERIAN: A total of nine participants competed in the Serian Division Level Tilawah Al-Quran (Al-Quran Recital) 2020.
These participants consisted of five qari (male participants) and four qariah (female participants), a press statement said.
Fatin Nurain Ripot was adjudged champion for the qariah category taking home cash prize of RM1,000 while in second spot was Suraya Ibrahim who won RM700 and Nur Zulaikhah Ripot was placed third, earning her RM500.
Meanwhile, in the qari category, the champion was Wan Jamaludin Wan Sait while the first runner-up was Wan Muhadzdzibbi Wan Habib and third place went to Azri Deli. They also respectively took home RM 1,000, RM700 and RM500.
Apart from the cash prize all winners received a trophy and certificate each from Serian Division Islamic religious officer Ustaz Morshidi July.
In order to comply with the standard operating procedures (SOPs) of the recovery movement control order (RMCO) the ceremony was held privately without an audience on Friday (August 14) at Roxy Hotel Serian.
Nevertheless, the Sarawak Islamic Affairs Department (Jais) and Serian Division Mosque did a live broadcast on their respective Facebook pages.
Also present were Serian Division Resident’s Office administrative officer Masitah Saini who represented Serian Resident and another administrative office of the Serian Resident’s Office Mahyuddin Hafiz Mohamad.
