SERIAN: The Lions Club of Serian is celebrating its 35th anniversary this year.

In commemoration of the event, a celebratory luncheon was held at a restaurant here last Sunday.

The four chartered members present during the luncheon were Dr Kiu Chiong Chin, Dennis Sung, Joseph Then and Lee Koi Jun, all of whom were presented with a bottle of wine by president Irene Pui.

The wine was given as a sign of gratitude for their continuous guidance and support towards the club throughout the years.

Bukit Semuja assemblyman John Ilus said he was impressed by the effort put in by the club as a non-governmental organisation concerning the welfare of underprivileged members of the community.

According to Irene, the club was chartered in 1984 and since then, had done many charitable works regarding community welfare and the betterment of lives of their community.

“We thank the Lions Club of Kuching Host for funding our involvement with the International Lions Club, as well as the love and support from the chartered members and we also thank our sister club the Lions Club of Johor Bahru city for their strong support,” she said.
