Service centre gives food aid to longhouses

The food aid from the service centre is being handed over to the frontline workers for distribution to the longhouses.

KUCHING: The Julau constituency service centre is providing assistance in terms of food supply to longhouses that are affected by the lockdown order.

Julau MP and Sarawak Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) chief Larry Sng hoped that the kind gesture would help the villagers get through this difficult time.

“There are a number of longhouses in the Julau constituency that are under lockdown due to suspected Covid-19 cases.

“The authorities are working round the clock to ensure that there is food for everyone and that they are adhering to the standard operating procedures (SOPs).

“Nonetheless, the food provided isn’t always enough, and that’s where Pusat Khidmat Julau (Julau service centre) comes in to assist,” he said in a Facebook post on Tuesday (Jan 26).

Sng said among the items supplied to the longhouses are powdered milk, vegetables, instant noodles and eggs.

Meanwhile, in a separate post, Sng said the party is launching a special fundraising campaign that provides assistance and support to all Sarawakians affected by the Covid-19 pandemic and recent floods.

“Your kind support and contribution of essential items such as food, clean water, toiletries and face masks can ease the burden of the affected families and villagers.

“Your donation, no matter the amount, means a lot and gives hope to those in need,” he said.

The Julau MP said donations can be channelled to Parti Keadilan Rakyat CIMB bank account at 8005 1176 46 with ‘Covid-19’ or ‘Flood Relief Donation’ as reference.
