KUCHING: The distribution of food aid under Sarawakku Sayang Special Assistance (BKSS) will be done through the service centre of each state constituency.
Urban Development and Resources Assistant Minister Datuk Len Talif Salleh said this involved recipients of the assistance in the Mukah and Sarikei divisions.
“Although the distribution of food baskets will be handled by the Sarikei division, the involvement of the Mukah division is also important for the coordination of the Tanjung Manis zone.
“The announcement by Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg on the allocation of RM250,000 for food aid in each state constituency under BKSS will have a positive impact on all recipients.
“Following that, the distribution of the food aid to each household will be done through the respective constituency service centres and assisted by several agencies,” he said in a Facebook post today (June 5).
Earlier, the Kuala Rajang assemblyman attended a virtual meeting chaired by Mukah Resident Hamdiah Bakir on the coordination of the food aid.
“The meeting which discussed the supply mechanism and its distribution for the entire Mukah division instilled a sense of concern for the local community,” he said.
Len also said based on the meeting on June 3 with Sarikei acting Resident, the number of recipients of the assistance in Kuala Rajang had now increased to 5,517 from 4,930.
“The distribution of this food aid under BKSS will be made in the near future,” he said.
Also participating in the virtual meeting were Welfare, Community Wellbeing, Women, Family and Childhood Development Minister Datuk Seri Fatimah Abdullah who is Dalat assemblywoman and Corporate Affairs and Ukas assistant minister Abdullah Saidol who is Semop assemblyman.
Also present were other assemblymen – Datuk Dr Juanda Jaya (Jemoreng), Yussibnosh Balo (Tellian), Safiee Ahmad (Daro) and a representative of Abdul Yakub Arbi (Balingian).
