SESCO works round the clock to restore power in three areas

The technical team who worked round the clock to repair the faulty cables.

KUCHING: Two underground cable faults at Jalan Field Force between Batu Kawa 5th Mile and Taman Desa Wira caused a 14-hour power interruption at Batu Kawa Heights, Desa Wira and Beautiful Garden.

Upon receiving the first report at 4.30 pm on Sept 26, Syarikat Sesco Berhad (SESCO), the operation and retail arm of Sarawak Energy, immediately dispatched a technical team to replace the the faulty cable at Jalan Field Force.

Another report was received on Sept 27 at 10.30 pm on a cable fault between Batu Kawa 5th Mile and Taman Desa Wira substations.

Eventually, the electricity supply was progressively restored to the affected areas by 3.30 am the next day (Sept 28) with three mobile gen-sets deployed, while repair works continued to fully restore supply until 12.30 pm. Both cable faults have since been reparied and the system is back to normal.

Sarawak Energy regional manager (Western region) Nazry Abdul Latip apologised for any inconvenience the outage might have caused.

“We thank the public for their patience and understanding as we worked round the clock to restore supply.

“Rest assured our technical team is on 24/7 standby and ready to act immediately on any outage reports. Unfortunately for this case, we needed more time as the damage was extensive,” he said this in a statement.
