STANDARD OPERATING PROCEDURE

KUCHING: Police issued seven compound notices to individuals for failing to comply with the standard operating procedures (SOPs) in public places on Wednesday.

Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) in a statement said, the police would continue to monitor and enforce the SOPs including use of face masks and social distancing in public places.

“Kota Samarahan recorded the most with four compounds issued, followed by Padawan, Betong and Sarikei with one compound notice each,” the statement read.

Apart from that, police also arrested one person – an Indian citizen in Padawan for failing to comply with the SOPs for business premises.

On the SOP compliance monitoring, the patrol teams inspected 1,975 premises throughout Sarawak.

These included 411 restaurants, supermarkets (193), banks (141), public markets (86), places of worship (79), leisure places (53), hawker stalls (36), construction sites (31), factories (13), and others (862).

The committee also informed that 2,077 vehicles were inspected at six ‘Ops Benteng’ roadblocks in five districts — two in Lundu with one each in Bau, Serian, Sri Aman, and Lubok Antu.
