Seven deaths in Sarawak so far

KUCHING: Sarawak has recorded two new deaths related to Covid-19, bringing the tally to seven.

State Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) chairman Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas, said that one was reported at Sarawak General Hospital (SGH) and the other at Miri Hospital.

Six positive cases were recorded in the state yesterday with the accumulative total at 135 cases since the first positive case was recorded on March 13.

“Of the figure, three are currently at SGH, two at Miri Hospital and one at Sibu Hospital.

“Today, the state has recorded 50 new persons under investigation (PUI) cases and the tally now stands at 1,176 cases. From the total, 977 cases have tested negative while 64 are awaiting laboratory results,” he said in a press conference yesterday.

Uggah further noted that throughout the past 13 days of the MCO period, the police reported that up to 95 percent of people obeyed the order.

It was noted that yesterday, the police had arrested 67 persons. The overall figure stands at 229 cases. As of yesterday, 31 persons had been charged with defying the order while 56 individuals are still being investigated.
