KUCHING: The state Disaster Management Committee has marked seven divisions in the state which would experience bad weather from Dec 17 to 20. Kuching, Samarahan, Serian, Sri Aman, Betong, Sarikei, Daro and Mukah divisions were marked as ‘Orange’ by the Meteorological Department as an indication of ‘Bad Weather’ that will bring about strong winds and heavy rains.
Meanwhile, several divisions such as Sibu, Bintulu, Miri, Limbang and several districts in Mukah (Matu and Dalat) were marked as ‘Yellow’ that indicates ‘Weather Alert’. Operation Rooms have been activated in the ‘Orange’ areas to mitigate any upcoming disaster such as landslides or flash floods. Resident Offices as well as ‘Pos Kawalan Tempat Kejadian’ (PKTK) were also urged to ensure that all evacuation centres are equipped with the necessary provisions and equipments.
