MIRI: Seven people, including a woman, have been detained by the police on suspicion of murdering a man, whose body was discovered inside an oil palm plantation in Paroh, Suai, Niah last Sunday morning (Feb 27).

The deceased, aged 38, was shot point-blank in the face.

The arrests were confirmed by Miri OCPD ACP Hakemal Hawari on Monday (Feb 28).

According to ACP Hakemal, a police team was deployed to the scene after being alerted of the discovery at 10.45am on Sunday.

The body was found near a wooden hut inside the oil palm estate. Also seized were a shotgun and empty shotgun shell.

The case has been classified and investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder.   

Police have reminded the public not to speculate on this case as it will interfere with the investigation.
