BETONG: A total of RM75,000 in grants was given to seven schools in Spaoh last Sunday.

The grants that were presented by Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas are to help prepare the schools for the coming school sessions amid the Covid-19 pandemic.

The recipients were Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan (SMK) Spaoh with RM15,000; Sekolah Kebangsaan (SK) Spaoh (RM10,000); SJKC Chung Hua (RM7,000); SK Suri (RM15,000); SK Nanga Gayau (RM5,000); SK Paku Sentral (RM8,000); and SK Nanga Tiga (RM15,000).

According to Uggah, the grants would be used, among others, to buy more infrared thermometers and set up proper hand washing areas.

He also stressed on the need for the school authorities to implement all standard operating procedures (SOPs) to create a safe environment for every student, teacher and other staff in their schools.
