MIRI: Police here arrested an elderly man for allegedly threatening and injuring his girlfriend at RPR Batu 6, Jalan Lutong-Pujut here, on Wednesday.
The incident occurred around 9pm, shortly after the couple got home from a gathering with their friends.
The 64-year-old suspect was said to have become furious after alleging his 47-year-old girlfriend had spoken ill of him at the gathering.
Following that, the suspect was alleged to have slapped and threatened the victim.
Miri district police chief ACP Alexson Naga Chabu, who confirmed the case, said the suspect was arrested at his house at midnight after the victim filed a police report.
The case is being investigated under Section 323 of the Penal Code for voluntarily causing hurt and Section 506 of the Penal Code for criminal intimidation.
