The corporation in a statement said their Swift Wildlife Action Team (SWAT) caught the 400kg reptile early in the morning and it was then brought to shore around 5 pm.

“The reptile was trapped in a cage that was installed by the SWAT on Oct 26.

“It (installation of the cage) was following a post of the crocodile’s sighting shared on the Sebangan Kampung Ku’s Facebook page on Oct 21,” the corporation said.

According to the post, the complainant shared that he managed to escape the reptile’s jaws after it jumped out of Sebangan estuary banks during his fishing activity on Oct 21.

In this regard, SFC advised the public to be vigilant when carrying out fishing or any other activity in the river environment.

Should the public have any information regarding those who capture, hunt, trade or preserve protected and protected wildlife, they can contact the SFC hotline at 019-8859996 (Kuching), 019-8883561 (Sibu), 019-8332737 (Bintulu) or 019-8290994 (Miri).
