SIBU: Sarawak Forestry Corporation (SFC) in collaboration with the marine police had embarked on Compliance Task Force Operation against illegal logging in Ulu Baleh commenced last 10 April.

According to a SFC statement, members of the joint team have conducted three raids, including one at Ng. Simpileh Logpond and two within forest timber licence area. The raids netted one excavator, four tractors, one generator, one water pump and 780 pieces of illegal logs. None of the logs bore any official markings and the logs extracted are believed to have been illegally extracted from nearby forest timber licence area by unknown people. Nobody was found at the vicinity during the raid.

The cases have been reported to the police station and have been handed over to Forest Department Sarawak for further investigation.
