SFC rescues 15-foot female crocodile in Bintulu

BINTULU: Sarawak Forestry Corporation (SFC) Bintulu region Swift Wildlife Action Team (SWAT)  led to the rescue of a crocodile at the Sarawak Petchem Sdn Bhd yesterday.

The corporation in a Facebook post said the 15-foot female crocodile which was seen since last January at the same venue.

“The crocodile’s presence was reported by Sarawak Petchem Sdn Bhd, when it was spotted around the river bank close to the construction site last month,” it said.

“Since that we have been working on the rescue as well as evacuation plan.”

“The main reason for the evacuation of the crocodile is to ensure the safety of the workers of Sarawak Petchem Sdn Bhd within the vicinity,” it said.

It said the crocodile has been safely handed-over to Taman Tumbina for further care of the crocodile.

SFC expressed its gratitude to Sarawak Petchem Sdn Bhd for their support throughout the rescue and evacuation process, and Taman Tumbina for their assistance in handling and caring of the crocodile.
