SERIAN: The Sarawak Forest Department (SFD) enforcement unit had detained a lorry laden with 107 pieces of sawn timber of different sizes after its driver failed to produce valid related documents.
The arrest was made at KM15 Kuching/Sri Aman Road at about 6.15pm on Sunday.
A spokesman of SFD said the operation was carried out by the SFD enforcement unit from the Kuching office.
“We detained the lorry and the sawn timber it was ferrying following the failure of the driver to produce valid related documents pertaining to the logs.
“A further inspection discovered the sawn timber was without the department’s mark which is an offence under Section 95 of the Sarawak Forest Ordinance, 2015,” he added.
The total value of the seized items including the lorry is estimated to be about RM80,000.
